Making a Difference, One Shoebox at a Time
Slaughter & Lupton Law’s Annual Operation Christmas Child TraditionMaking a Difference, One Shoebox at a Time: Slaughter & Lupton Law’s Annual Operation Christmas Child Tradition
by: Everett Lupton
Every year as the holiday season approaches, the team at Slaughter & Lupton Law takes a break from case files, courtrooms, and client meetings to focus on something just as meaningful — giving back to children and families around the world through Operation Christmas Child.
This long-standing tradition is one of the highlights of our year, and it reflects who we are beyond our work as attorneys: a team that believes compassion and service extend far beyond our office walls.

A Simple Box with a Big Impact
For those unfamiliar, Operation Christmas Child is a global project run by Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian humanitarian organization. Each year, volunteers pack shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and heartfelt notes for children in need across more than 100 countries. These small gifts are often the first Christmas presents the children have ever received — and they’re delivered alongside a message of hope and kindness.
At Slaughter & Lupton Law, our team takes this mission to heart. In the weeks leading up to our Operation Christmas Child Boxing Day, our staff members shop for toys, crayons, notebooks, stuffed animals, toothbrushes, and other essentials.

Coming Together for a Common Purpose
Our boxing event is more than just an office activity; it’s a celebration of teamwork and gratitude. As boxes fill the conference room, there’s laughter, holiday music, and the unmistakable energy that comes from doing something good together.
It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of the season — finishing cases before year’s end, shopping for our own families, or planning time off. But this event reminds us of something simple and powerful: generosity connects us all.
For our attorneys and staff, it’s an opportunity to pause and reflect on what truly matters. We see firsthand every day how quickly lives can change after an accident or injury. We meet clients who are facing some of the hardest moments of their lives — and we walk beside them until things get better. Supporting Operation Christmas Child is another way for us to extend that same care and compassion to people we’ll never meet but who need hope just as much.
A Tradition of Service — in the Office and Beyond
Service is at the heart of who we are. Partner Robert Slaughter, who served as a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and has spent decades advocating for clients in court, often reminds our team that real leadership is rooted in service. It’s a value echoed by partner Everett Lupton and embraced by everyone in our offices — from our attorneys to our support staff.
By giving our time and energy to community projects like Operation Christmas Child, we reaffirm that our firm’s mission isn’t only about winning cases — it’s about improving lives.
How You Can Make a Difference
If you would like to be involved, it’s not too late to make a difference. You can pack your own shoebox, donate online, or volunteer at a local drop-off location during National Collection Week. Visit samaritanspurse.org/occ to learn more about how to participate.
Whether it’s through a single shoebox or a simple act of kindness, we all have the power to bring light into someone else’s life this holiday season.
From all of us at Slaughter & Lupton Law, we wish our clients, colleagues, and community a joyful holiday season filled with gratitude, hope, and giving.
